15 Effective Tips for Hair Removal
Body hair is natural. However, if you wish to get rid of it and enjoy fuzz-free, smooth skin it is your choice. If you believe trips to beauty parlors are tedious, time-consuming, and expensive, then here are 15 easy hair removal tips you can try in the comfort of your home.
Tweezing
- Ideal to remove a small surface of hair, like on your eyebrows or upper lip, or when there is stray hair left over after waxing, tweezing is cheap and quick too.
- Make sure you buy a tweezer with the proper kind of grip and tip. This will help you maintain absolute control over which hair you want to remove. There are slanted tip tweezers and pointed tip tweezers, choose the right one depending on whether your hair is coarse or fine.
- It is best to use your tweezer right after a warm shower when your hair is wet and your pores are open. This helps remove unwanted hair easily, and with lesser pain.
- Tweezing removes hair from its root, and hence delays the regrowth of hair for a couple of weeks. But this can be painful too, so immediately after using a tweezer, apply chilled lotion in the area you have worked on to reduce inflammation and redness.
Shaving
- Allot different razors for your face and body for hygienic reasons. High quality, disposable razors that can be used 4-5 times and come attached with moisturizing strips should be your choice. Between changing razors, wash thoroughly, and dry it well after every use.
- Exfoliate your skin using a good scrub or a loofah before shaving. This will help remove all the dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling smooth after the shave.
- Apart from improving blood circulation, and allowing your skin to breathe, dry brushing your skin periodically reduces the ingrowth of hair, one of the cons of shaving.
- Before you use the razor, wet the area where you plan to shave and apply shaving cream or hair conditioner. Then, shave in the direction of hair growth on your face, and against the growth in other parts of your body. This will make sure your skin does not become dry because of shaving.
- Apply body lotion or natural oils like almond, olive, or coconut to keep your skin smooth after shaving.
Waxing
- Select a good quality, clinically tested waxing cream to remove unwanted body hair. Cheap ones can cause skin allergies.
- Make sure the length of hair to be waxed is long enough; too short and too long, both will make waxing messy and ineffective.
- Prepare the area to be waxed by washing it well and removing all traces of oil, lotion, or moisturizer. Keep it dry, so the wax can be applied evenly, and removing hair is easier.
- If you are using hot wax, ensure it is at the right temperature. Warm enough to do the job, but not too hot to burn your skin.
- Apply wax in the direction of hair growth and pull the strips in the opposite direction to remove unwanted hair.
- After waxing, wash the area with cold water and remember to apply a soothing moisturizer to avoid rashes.
