If you are a proud and happy dog owner, you know that keeping your furry friend clean is no easy task. Dogs like to roll around everywhere, on plush carpets and rugs, on grass, and sometimes even on the garage floor. And no wonder, his hair and all the dirt, ticks, and fleas that are on him are dispersed everywhere. You wouldn’t want that happening. So, though you may be unable to prevent your dog from rolling on the ground and putting his feet in the air, what you can do is keep his fur and skin clean. Here are 7 easy home remedies to get rid of fleas and ticks in dogs.

Apple Cider Vinegar
This is one valuable multi-purpose liquid. In the ratio 1:1, mix apple cider vinegar and water, and fill a spray bottle with this. Take your pooch outside the house, spray this solution generously over his fur making sure it reaches his skin. Allow him to play around, and before letting him back into the house, give him a good brushing. This will make sure all the fleas and ticks that hide in his fur fall off because cider vinegar repels fleas.

Lemon
Depending on how big your dog is, and how much hair he has, squeeze a couple of lemons into a bowl, add some water to this along with a teaspoon of regular dog shampoo. Mix everything well, carefully pour into a spray bottle, and give your dog a luxurious bath with this soapy lemon solution regularly. Not only will the lemon repel ticks and fleas, but your beloved dog will smell fresh too.

Coconut Oil
Good old natural coconut oil is great for your dog, not just to keep fleas and ticks away, but also to make his coat shinier. Take some coconut oil in your hands, rub it well between your palms, and give your dog a satisfying massage. Run your hands through his hair down to his skin and properly cover his entire coat with coconut oil. The lauric acid in coconut oil is an excellent tick and flea repellent.

Rosemary
A natural tick and flea repellent, rosemary is excellent as a spray for dogs. Steep a handful of fresh rosemary herbs in a large pot of water. Boil this well, let it cool, and fill it up in a spray bottle. Before your pooch heads out onto the hiking trail with you, spray some of this solution on his coat and allow it to air dry. Make sure the solution is sprayed well near the tail, ears, and between his legs, on his armpits, all the places that fleas find warm. After you return home from your explorations on the trail, use a good comb to brush through your dog’s hair. Remember to do this outside your house though. This is a natural way to make sure fleas and ticks are promptly removed from your dog.
